Dry Packing/Slurry Pour Guide |

Step #1 You will need the following tools. QUICKTOPS slurry kit QUICKTOPS color, mixing, Paddle, rubber float and a clean mixing tub. |
|
Step #5 Ready your tools and dry blen the color and slurry.
|
|
Step #2 Measure out he desired amount of slurry to be used. Measure by weight and not volume. |
|
Step #3 Using the color chart on the slurry container, determine the amount of color to be used. Weight the color do not measure by volume. |
|
Step #4 Add the color to your slurry mix. |






|
Step #11 Blend the remainder of the E-mix until there is no more poder visible. The mix will be moist and thick. |
|
Step #15 Place the amterial in an arching motion. Try to avoid packing in rows. The more pressure applied the less veining that will appear on the finished side. |
|
Step #12 Add the 12 lbs of degorative aggregate to the mix. |
|
Step #13 Blend until all the rock is coated with material. (optional) at this point you may add a maximum of an additional 1/2 lb of water based on your preference. Do not exceede 1/2 lb of water. |
|
Step #14 Place a handful of loose material into the form and press down. Place a second handful of material next to the first and slide and press together. |

Step #5 Place the 5 lbs of water into mixing tub. |
|
Step #9 Blend the mix until all of the dry powder is completely blended. The mix at this point will be fluid. |
|
Step #6 Add iron oxide or liquid colors to the water already in the mixing tub.
|
|
Step #7 Blend until all of the color is disbursed evenly. |
|
Step #8 Add 1/2 of the bag of E-mix to the water an color in the mixing tub. Only add about 1/2 of the bag, a full bag will be impossible to mix. |

The following is a reference for creating a dry pack with the QUICKTOPS E-mix. This is an artistic method that will vary from piece to piece. This is mean only as a guide. |
|
Step #1 You will need the following items. A clean mixing bucket, 5 lbs of water, a hand held mixer, 12 lbs of decorative aggregate, choice of color and a bag of E-mix. |

|
Step #3 QUICKTOPS mixes can be poured in a variety of forms. Here are some of the most commonly used. 1. Plastic molded form 2. Melamine 3. Rubber 4. Plexi Glass with Plastic sides 5. Preitech Sheet plastic with foam coated sides. |

Step #4 Verify that you have all the items measure and ready prior to blending your mix. · Bag material · 5 lbs of water · Weighed out color · Clean mixing tub · Clean mixer · 12 lbs of decorative aggregate

Step #2 If desired an iron oxide or liquid color may be added to the mix. A maximum of 10 oz of iron oxide is recommended to be added to one 50# bag. Measure the color by weight not volume. |

Step #17 Once packed, strike off the back to level off the back of the piece. Fill in any large voids with the screeded material. |
|
Step #18 Pay close attention to your edges. Make sure they are filled in and flushto save any additional filling later. |
|
Step #19 The casting portion of your project is complete. You will be able to demold your piece in 3 hours and slurry it. |

1. On hot days it is recommended to wet cure the cast piece by spray the back side with water as many times as needed. |
|
3.Once the piece is cast do not move it . Moving piece may cause it to crack or delaminate. |

2. If the air temperature is lower than 70 degrees. F The cure time may extend longer than 3 hours. Thinner pieces may cure slower also as the thinner mass generates minimal heat. |
|
4. To assure uniformity when casting multiple pieces, measure out all of your additives prior to mixing. |
|
5. Heavy tapping or use of a vibrating table for a long period of time may cause the decorative aggregate or glass to consolidate to the center of the piece. |
|
6. Dry packing is a two person job. Have one person mixing and the other placing the material. Use two tubs and rotate them. |

Step #7 Blend Thoroughly. |
|
Step #11 Once the entire piece is coated, let it dry for at least 2 hours.
|
|
Step #8 Place a desired amount of slurry mix onto your piece. |
|
Step #9 Using a rubber float, spread a thin layer of the entire piece. |
|
Step #10 Work the slurry into all cracks and fissures. Pay close attention to your edges. We recommend several thin coats apposed to on heavy coat. |
